Monkey Bars Take On Lawrence Welk, Kaskade...and Cleveland!

Hot damn! Things are indeed heating up for those House-Hussling Hebrews aka Monkey Bars! Hot on the heels of their debut album, Food-Eating Food, the boys have hit us hard with a bevvy of follow-up goodies destined for your both your hearts as well as your credit card statements.

For starters, there's the highly-publicized Monkey Bars contribution to Upstairs at Larry's, which is the Lawrence Welk remix CD that's been getting rave reviews in publications everywhere including Billboard Magazine. You'll be proud to know that our boys' bizarro re-working of the classic ditty, "Baby Elephant Walk" has actually been a perennial favorite on the top Los Angeles radio program, KCRW's Morning Becomes Eclectic with Nic Harcourt. If you want a little bit of Monkey Bars/Lawrence Welk remix-trivia for your next awkward drunken interjection at the quarterly sales dinner, you can tell 'em that the "Welk It Up" slogan used so extensively in the marketing campaign of the CD was coined by none other than Monkey Bars' larger half, Doron. You see, it was his thugged-out flow, "Welk It Up," that inspired the good people at the record label to utilize the thought-provoking phrase in the official press release, as well as to register the domain by the same name. For reals, yo -- check it: www.welkitup.com.

Next off is the thumpin' Monkey Bars treatment of deep house it-boy, Kaskade's smash-hit "Steppin' Out." Already getting serious radio and chart action worldwide, the "Monkey Bars Silver Spoons Mix" owes its title to a heavy reliance on some adept electric guitar work inspired by a timeless television theme somg. Nabbing the #5 spot on the Billboard's dance chart, this mix hits you where it counts, and HARD. Pumpin' epic 80's-tinged jazz-rock-funk. The kind you won't take home to ma-ma.

Last but not least, is of course, Cleveland. The city might not mean a whole hell of a lot to you high-falutin' coastal city folk, but out here in this coastal city of Glendale, California, Cleveland means a hell of a lot to two hard working American patriots by the name of "Monkey Bars." You see, we've never played in Cleveland before, and we're delighted that they've agreed to have us. By the time you read this, our August 14th appearance in that fine city will most likely have passed you by, but if not, you Clevelanders out there make sure to check our events page for the particulars!

That Album that Monkey Bars Have Been Rattling About for as Long as We've Known Them is FINALLY Actually Available!!

And that's not all folks! Do a Google Search on "Shuggie Love" and you'll be bombarded by literally singles of sites offering you your very own Shuggie Love ringtone!! Now if the album and the ringtone aren't enough to thoroughly empty your wallet, then we've even got some super-slick Monkey Bars/Clover Club t-shirts on their way, so stay tuned for that!

As for this debut full-length album of ours, the philosophy is quite simple. We see the record-buying public as a field that we must throughly and utterly fertilize with awareness of the Monkey Bars brand. Now, stay with me here folks. The next step for our fertilized (if not a bit pungent) acres is for a spinkler system to nourish the field, but in this case, it will not be droplets of water, but rather scores and scores of units of Monkey Bars product in the form of "Food-Eating Food" that shall nourish our famished field of funk-starved fans. And once the earth is nourished, our land can sprout with the most lovely shade of green...and at last, all will be well.

Less agriculturally-minded friends of ours may exclaim. "Ummmm. OK, great. Cow dung. Dazzling. What about the f!#@ing music?" Well, if you must know, we can only say that this album spans nearly 2 years of creative output that besides being simply funky, also seeks to explore the boundaries of melody, harmony, and lyrics as they appear in house music. Now before you begin to long for a return to the subject of fertilizer, let us reassure you that the main point here is to have some frickin' fun! So let's all celebrate, and each pick up a copy or six of this Summer's finest stocking-stuffer, ""Food-Eating Food""!!!

Monkey Bars' "Shuggie Love" Tops the UK Charts!

In the spirit of Jerry Lewis and David Hasselhoff, this month finds Monkey Bars joining the ranks of American artists that are massive in Europe. You see folks, in the US, we've got Billboard Magazine telling us what's what, and in the UK, it's Music Week. Last week, the good people at Music Week noticed that the Monkeys' new single, "Shuggie Love" had found its way to the #1 spot on the Upfront Club Chart and - look out! - #7 on the Commercial Pop Chart!!

Well tickle my tutu and call me a Monkey's Uncle! It looks like this might just be the year of that Monkey after all! And don't even think that Monkey Madness is gonna "Pass You By" this summer, because after their rump-rockin' live set before 2,000 bouncing dancefloor dwellers at the WMC Subliminal Sessions soiree, the boys are ready to dish out additional funk with their own "trough style" DJ sets which include healthy helpings of house topped off with sax, samples, voice, and anything else we can feed the floor.

Still hungry? Well then fear not, for the the main course, aka Monkey Bars' debut full-length album entitled Food-Eating Food makes its way to music retailers everywhere later this spring. Be there!

"Year of the Monkey" To Officially Kick-Off at Subliminal's WMC Bash in Miami!

As billions of Chinese and non-Chinese alike take to the streets wildly ushering in the Year of the Monkey, their festivities will be bolstered by the almost eerie and, let's be honest, kinda creepy, "coincidental" ushering in of everyone's favorite house music power-duo, the ever-timely Monkey Bars. Starry-eyed boys and girls may ask, "But Father, why is this year so god-damned different than other years?" And as Father puts down the bottle of Wild Turkey and lifts little Timmy upon his knee, he murmurs to the lad, "Why Timmy, this is the year that Monkey Bars is slated to perform live at what is arguably the most talked-about event at the entire Winter Music Conference -" and Timmy breathlessly interjects, "You mean the Subliminal WMC Party?"
"That's right kiddie! And, and...AND! Did I mention they'll be performing with their new superstar vocalist Rachael?"

At this point, father picks up the bottle, raises it towards the setting sun, and cries, "2004- Year of the Monkey! Year of the Monkey! Yeeeaaar- of the, Mon..."

After completing a triumphant tour of the Great Northwest, the boys are back in town with two earth-shattering remixes of "Can't Get It Wrong" by Vantage Point (aka Jimmy Van M, Richard Schiessl and Marc Mitchell). With sexybouncy vocals by Terra Deva, this EP devoted entirely to Monkey Bars' mixes has been making its mark in clubland with DJs worldwide. In fact, you'll be able to hear Monkey Bars' melodramatic musings on this song as part of Subliminal Sessions 6 mixed by none other than Benny Benassi -- who, as most of you are already aware, is known as the man behind one of last year's most massive of clubland anthems, "Satisfaction."
